AMERICAN MYTHS IN DEVELOPMENT
COMING IN 2024
THE 3 PIGS & THE RED LINE
Just as Mama said would happen, the Wolf is on the prowl and the pigs of Asheville are on alert. What follows is a tale of shattered dreams, stolen homes, and the hope that only a community can create.
Using the classic tale of the 3 Pigs, this new American Myth illuminates the history of Redlining and Urban Renewal in Asheville and sparks a conversation around the rippling effects that still exist in our community today.

coming in THE FUTURE
THE ALICE PROJECT
A little girl runs screaming from her house, escaping her mother’s calls, and in search for a place to calm down. What she finds is a funny, white rabbit in haste and very late. Without a thought, she follows that furry tail down into another world.
Using the classic tale by Lewis Carroll, The Alice Project places Cordelia Vanderbilt in the center of the story and follows her travels into Wonderland. Inspired by the AMC’s online pivot of An Appalachian Christmas Carol, this story will be told through the magic of toy theatre and filmed in the point of view of Cordelia. This American Myth is meant to spark a conversation around the absurdity of wealth.
THE MAENADS
The fallen soldiers of the South return home from the Great War in wooden boxes while their widows funnel their despair into the making of an all-powerful God. This new God, Dionotos, soothes his followers by countering the terrible truths of their lost war with comfortable lies. The Maenads tells the story of those who attempt to stop this new God and those who worship Him.
Originally meant to tour the community in summer of 2020, this live production infused by original and tradition roots music, has an unknown future. Inspired by Euripides’ The Bacchae, The Maenads is a new American Myth that seeks to spark a conversation around the power of false narratives and how they may be confronted.
